The VSS112002.051P-000 is an integrated vision device from B&R Automation’s VS Smart Sensors series. Acting as a self-contained smart camera, it combines optics, image capture, and onboard processing so automated cells can perform presence checks, code reading, or alignment tasks without an external PC. That compact arrangement helps simplify machine layouts where space is limited and inspection hardware must remain close to the process.

Processing power comes from a Cortex A9 i.MX6 dual core CPU running at 800 MHz. The architecture uses a 512 kB shared L2 cache, and 1 GB of DDR3 RAM buffers complete frames for the standard preprocessing variant. With one active vision function enabled, the device can maintain deterministic cycle times for synchronized work with conveyors or robot motion in space-restricted enclosures.

Image acquisition is handled by a global shutter sensor that delivers 165 fps at its full 1.3 MP resolution. Global shutter capture also reduces distortion when inspected parts move quickly past the camera field of view. A fixed 12 mm F4 lens sits behind anti-reflective glass and uses the compact S-mount interface, which keeps the package small while still allowing lens changes. The unit does not include internal LED lighting, so external strobes or structured light can be positioned to match the inspection scene.
