The VSC523R24.032P-000 is a smart camera built by B & R Automation within the VS Smart Sensors series. Designed for integrated machine vision, it combines optics, illumination, and processing into one enclosure so production lines can add inspection, code reading, or guidance without external PCs. Its onboard resources allow several vision functions to run simultaneously, making it suitable for fast-moving automated equipment.
Image acquisition is handled by a 3.5 MP sensor that streams at up to 43 fps, giving the camera enough temporal resolution for high-speed pick-and-place or web inspection. A system clock of 800 MHz keeps preprocessing cycles short, while 2 GB of RAM provides buffering for large image sequences or deep-learning models. That combination lets classification and measurement routines run in the camera head, reducing fieldbus traffic and simplifying controller logic.
The computation core is a Cortex A9 i.MX6 quad core backed by a 1 MB L2 cache and an inference accelerator for neural networks. Optically, the camera ships with a 37° field of view produced by a 6 mm, F3.5 lens in an S-mount, which allows optics changes when working distances shift. A ring of 16 LEDs is split into four independently controlled segments that deliver R, B, IR, or white light, and the front window includes a polarizing filter to suppress glare.
