The VSC523Q25.052P-000 smart camera is built by B&R Automation for the VS Smart Sensors series and belongs to the integrated machine vision range. That design allows the unit to perform inspection, guidance, and code-reading tasks directly at the machine without requiring a separate external controller. This reduces system complexity and helps compact stations keep vision capability close to the process.
Its processing subsystem uses a Cortex A9 i.MX6 quad core CPU running at 800 MHz, and all 4 cores share 1 MB of L2 cache for stable multitasking. The camera also includes 2 GB of RAM and an inference accelerator for the deep learning variant. This hardware lets the device handle segmentation, presence checks, and classification within short machine-cycle windows.
The sensor captures images at 5.3 MP and streams up to 43 fps for fast evaluation of moving parts. A 12 mm focal length, F4 2/3-inch optics, and a 37-degree diagonal angle support a controlled field of view. Illumination comes from 16 LEDs (4 segments with 4 multicolored LEDs each) that can emit red, green, blue, or lime light to suit different surfaces. The housing uses an S-mount and supports line-sensor operation, but it cannot be combined with UV lighting or type 1 lenses.
