The VSC523002.000P-000 is a smart camera developed by B&R Automation for the VS Smart Sensors series. Classified within the Smart Camera product group, it belongs to the manufacturer’s integrated machine vision range and is intended to execute inspection and guidance tasks directly on the production floor. By combining sensing, computation, and Ethernet connectivity in one enclosure, the unit removes the need for a separate industrial PC. Deployed near conveyors or robot arms, it captures images, triggers real-time decisions, and passes results to the machine controller with minimal latency, improving overall cycle consistency in automated lines.

Processing is handled by a Cortex A9 i.MX6 quad core system-on-chip that clocks at 800 MHz. A shared 1 MB L2 cache lowers memory access time, and 2 GB of DDR3 RAM stores frame sequences as well as neural-network parameters. The onboard inference accelerator boosts preprocessing performance so that several vision functions can run simultaneously, including feature localization, code reading, and classification. With 4 cores available, these pipelines execute in parallel without blocking the acquisition thread. The camera carries out filtering, normalization, and model inference locally before forwarding concise data sets to the control network.

Image acquisition is delivered at 165 fps with a native sensor format of 1.3 MP, supporting high-speed material flow. Optically, the device is configured for a C-mount barrel, and this variant is supplied without front glass, without an installed lens, and without an LED lens so custom optics or protective windows can be added as needed. Internal illumination is not included, so external strobes or line lights must be used, and the unit is suitable for line-sensor arrangements. This hardware is supplied as a deep learning variant, allowing trained convolutional models to run at the edge while maintaining deterministic response times.
