B&R Automation manufactures the VSC123Q25.051P-000 as part of its VS Smart Sensors series. Classified as a smart camera, this unit combines optics, illumination, and onboard processing to perform machine-vision tasks directly on the production line. By integrating vision functions into a compact sensor body, it removes the need for an external PC and supports in-line inspection, position checking, quality evaluation, and guidance for automated handling equipment in real time.

The camera uses a processor that operates at 800 MHz, and its four CPU cores share an L2 cache of 1 MB so multiple vision routines can run with stable response. The processor uses a Cortex A9 i.MX6 quad core architecture and is paired with 2 GB of RAM to buffer image data before and after preprocessing. A hardware inference accelerator assists the main processor so trained neural networks can classify features during operation without placing the full workload on the CPU. Image acquisition reaches 43 fps, which is suitable for moderate-speed conveyor systems, pick-and-place lines, and similar applications. The unit is also suitable for line-sensor applications that capture continuous web material, and the S-mount interface allows lens changes while maintaining proper alignment with the internal sensor.

An optical angle of 37° combined with a focal length of 12 mm in an F4, 2/3-inch format sets the field of view and working distance. The imaging system supports resolutions up to 5.3 MP, which allows the camera to capture fine visual detail for inspection tasks. Illumination is provided by 16 LEDs arranged in four multicolored segments, and the RGB + Lime combination helps improve contrast on surfaces with different colors and finishes. LED lens type 2 geometry standardizes light distribution, while the glass front element uses an anti-reflective coating to reduce stray reflections from polished parts.
