The VSC123F31.06BP-000 is a smart camera produced by B & R Automation within the VS Smart Sensors series. It combines image capture and onboard processing to handle inspection, guidance, and identification tasks directly at the machine level. In practice, that lets the camera evaluate images where the process takes place instead of depending on a separate industrial PC for every step. The unit is supplied as the standard variant and belongs to the Integrated Machine Vision product range. It is intended for machine-vision tasks that benefit from keeping sensing and processing in the same device.

A Cortex A9 i.MX6 processor runs at 800 MHz. Its 4-core architecture works with 2 GB of DDR3 RAM and a 1 MB L2 cache so several vision functions can run at the same time. The memory and cache arrangement supports handling image data and decision logic in parallel. Images are captured at a native resolution of 1.3 MP and streamed at up to 90 fps, which supports fast rejection or alignment decisions on moving products. An inference accelerator handles preprocessing, so feature extraction and classification routines do not place the full workload on the main CPU. The camera is intended for area imaging and is not suitable for line-sensor applications.

The camera is supplied with a 16 mm F4 2/3-inch lens mounted on an S-mount bayonet. A fixed field angle of 23° suits typical packaging and assembly cells, and plastic front glass with an anti-reflective coating helps reduce ghosting when reflective surfaces are present. Illumination is provided by 16 LEDs arranged in four addressable segments, and their white output covers the entire visible spectrum for color-based evaluation. Four addressable segments let the light pattern be matched to the target surface and viewing angle. The LEDs sit behind a type 3 narrow-beam lens. The design is not intended for use with IR emitters or type 1 optics, and the lighting setup cannot be mixed with incompatible hardware.
