The VSC122R31.061P-000 is a smart camera from B & R Automation in the VS Smart Sensors series. It combines imaging, processing, and multicolored lighting in one housing for integrated machine vision. Supplied in the standard variant, it mounts on production equipment to check dimensions, read codes, or verify assembly without a separate PC. Its integrated design lets the connected control system react immediately to inspection results and positioning events. This helps save space and simplifies installation on compact machines.

Application code runs on a Cortex A9 i.MX6 quad-core processor clocked at 800 MHz. The 4 cores allow several vision functions to run at the same time without frame drops. Image buffers and neural filters reside in 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, while frequently reused data sets are cached in a 1 MB L2 block to reduce external memory access latency. A native sensor resolution of 1.3 MP provides enough pixels for barcode reading and feature measurement on small to medium-sized parts. This standard preprocessing variant handles histogram equalization, edge extraction, and other preparation stages onboard, which reduces the processing load on the machine PLC.

The imaging front end streams at 90 fps, so high-speed conveyors can be inspected with reduced motion blur. A fixed 16 mm F4 lens on the S-mount gives a 23° field of view, and the front glass has an anti-reflective coating to limit glare from overhead lighting. The internal lighting ring contains 16 LEDs arranged in four multicolored segments, and the selectable R / B / IR / White channels support inspection of different surface types and materials. The CMOS Monochrome sensor delivers high quantum efficiency, and the unit is intended for area capture rather than line-sensor applications.
