The VSC122R25.053P-000 smart camera is manufactured by B & R Automation and belongs to the VS Smart Sensors series. As part of the Integrated Machine Vision product range, it combines optics, illumination, and a quad-core processor inside a compact housing to execute inspection, identification, and guidance tasks on automated equipment. It fits directly on moving tooling, reducing cable runs and cabinet space while bringing real-time decision making onto the production floor.

It captures images at a native resolution of 5.3 MP, allowing detailed analysis of small features on parts traveling at line speed. The onboard Cortex-A9 i.MX6 processor runs at 800 MHz; together with 4 CPU cores it executes several vision functions simultaneously without an external PC. A dedicated 2 GB DDR3 memory space buffers full frames and intermediate results for preprocessing operations defined in Automation Studio. The sensor streams at 43 fps, so pass/fail decisions can be issued within tight cycle times for packaging, assembly, or robotics tasks. A 1 MB L2 cache reduces memory latency between the cores, and the standard-variant preprocessing block accelerates thresholding, edge extraction, and blob analysis.

Optical and illumination elements are matched to the computing section. A viewing angle of 37° and an S-mount lens with a focal length of 12 mm create a mid-range field of view suited to parts positioned 200 – 500 mm from the sensor face. The integrated ring light uses 16 LEDs arranged in four separately addressable segments, enabling structured or partial lighting to minimize reflections. Users can select R / B / IR / White emission channels through software to enhance contrast on colored, metallic, or transparent surfaces. A glass diffuser at the front equalizes the outgoing light and shields the optics from dust and oil.
