Product Description:
The VSC122R24.03BP-000 is a smart camera in the VS Smart Sensors series from B&R Automation. As an integrated machine vision device, the unit combines optics, lighting, processing, and I/O in a single housing for direct installation on production equipment. Within an automated line, it captures images, executes onboard vision algorithms, and supplies pass/fail data to PLCs, supporting rapid inline inspection without separate PCs. Because image capture, analysis, and communication are handled inside the unit, it can be mounted close to the inspection point and respond quickly to changing line conditions.
The camera uses a Cortex A9 i.MX6 quad core processor clocked at 800 MHz, giving it enough throughput for several vision functions to run simultaneously on the line. Each of the four cores shares 1 MB of L2 cache, reducing memory latency during image preprocessing. Main storage consists of 2 GB of DDR3 RAM that buffers high-resolution frames for analysis. With a sensor resolution of 3.5 MP and a maximum acquisition speed of 43 fps, the device can inspect fast-moving parts without motion blur. This level of computing and imaging performance supports geometry checks, code reading, and presence detection within a single cycle.
Optical and lighting components support the onboard processing functions. A 6 mm focal length lens with an F3.5 aperture on an S-mount establishes a 1/1.8-inch image circle, while the field of view spans 37° so that medium-sized objects fill the sensor at typical working distances. Illumination is delivered by 16 LEDs arranged in four multicolored segments, and red, blue, infrared, or white light can be selected per application. The type 2 LED lens directs light uniformly across the scene, and the plastic front window uses an anti-reflective coating to maintain contrast. The design is not compatible with IR LEDs or type 1 lenses, and line-sensor capability is not provided.
