The VSC122R24.032P-000 smart camera is built by B&R Automation within the VS Smart Sensors series. As an integrated machine vision device, it combines optics, illumination, and processing hardware in one enclosure. This design allows direct deployment on production lines for part presence, orientation, and code verification tasks in industrial automation. The integrated layout also reduces the need for separate external lighting and image-processing hardware at the inspection point.

Its sensor captures images at 3.5 MP, so fine component edges remain clear during inspection. A maximum throughput of 43 fps keeps sequence control synchronized with fast-moving conveyors. The embedded Cortex-A9 platform clocks at 800 MHz, and the on-chip 1 MB L2 cache reduces latency between image acquisition and user algorithms. System memory of 2 GB supports multiple vision tools loaded at once, allowing barcode reading, measurement, and blob analysis to run in parallel without depending on external storage. This local processing approach helps the camera evaluate images directly on the machine instead of sending every task to a separate controller.

To coordinate these workloads, the processor distributes threads across 4 cores, helping maintain deterministic cycle times even when lighting sequences are triggered. The preinstalled F3.5 lens establishes a working distance suitable for compact stations, and its focal length of 6 mm works with the internal polarizing front glass to reduce glare. Illumination is provided by 16 LEDs arranged in four independently switchable segments, so light can be directed where contrast is needed most. The viewing cone of 37° also supports shorter standoff distances in space-constrained installations. Several vision functions can run simultaneously on the device. The standard variant cannot be combined with UV emitters or Type 1 LED lenses, so it is intended for general assembly and packaging lines.
