The VSC122R22.031P-000 is a smart camera from B & R Automation in the VS Smart Sensors series. It belongs to the Integrated machine vision product range and the Smart Camera product group. The device combines optics, multicolored lighting, and an embedded processor in a compact S-mount housing sealed by glass with an anti-reflective coating. In industrial automation lines, it captures images, evaluates several vision functions at the same time, and sends deterministic results to the control network without a separate vision PC. Because image capture, lighting, and evaluation are integrated in one unit, the camera can be used where installation space is limited.

Internal processing is handled by a Cortex A9 i.MX6 SoC clocked at 800 MHz. The processor uses 4 cores, and the memory pool is 2 GB, which supports frame buffers and intermediate data storage during image analysis. Raw images from the 1/1.8-inch sensor are recorded at a native resolution of 1.3 MP, and the electronics can sustain a streaming rate of 165 fps when the full image window is used. This combination supports fast inspection tasks on packaging, assembly, and material-handling equipment where short response times are important. Multiple vision functions can run inside the camera instead of relying on an external vision computer.

The optical front end uses a lens with a focal length of 6 mm, and its F3.5 aperture provides a nominal horizontal angle of view of 37° for mid-range fields of view. Illumination is provided by an integrated ring with 16 LEDs arranged in four individually addressable segments, allowing the camera to adapt lighting patterns to different targets. Each diode can emit R / B / IR / White light, which helps improve contrast on parts with varying colors, finishes, or surface marks. Individually controlled lighting segments can emphasize edges and reduce glare on reflective materials. This layout supports reliable image capture in robot, conveyor, and inspection stations that need onboard vision processing.
