The VSC122R21.063P-000 is a smart camera from B&R Automation that belongs to the VS Smart Sensors series. As part of the Integrated Machine Vision product range, it is installed on production lines to capture images, perform onboard analysis, and relay pass/fail decisions to controllers. By combining optics, processing, and multicolored lighting in a single housing, the unit reduces wiring and supports compact inspection stations used for identification, alignment, and presence-check tasks. It can therefore handle image acquisition and evaluation in one device, which helps reduce the amount of separate vision hardware mounted near the machine.

The camera’s processing section is based on a Cortex-A9 i.MX6 quad-core CPU running at 800 MHz, and the presence of 4 cores with a 1 MB L2 cache allows several vision functions to run at the same time. Its DDR3 memory capacity of 2 GB stores frame buffers and intermediate feature maps for local image preprocessing. Image data come from a 1/3-inch sensor that delivers a native resolution of 1.3 MP at up to 90 fps, making the unit suitable for mid-speed packaging or assembly lines. The camera is not intended for line-scan acquisition, and it is offered as the standard variant.

A fixed S-mount accepts a 2/3-inch F4 lens with a focal length of 16 mm, and this pairing yields a horizontal inspection angle of 37°. The front window uses a glass diffuser to even out reflections, while LED lens type 2 focuses the integral illumination across the target area. The lighting array contains 16 LEDs divided into four segments, and each segment can emit R / B / IR / White light to improve contrast on materials with different surface finishes. Segmented lighting also helps emphasize edges, printed marks, or surface features without requiring separate external lamps.
