Product Description:
The VSC122R21.052P-000 is a smart camera produced by B & R Automation and supplied within the VS Smart Sensors series. As part of the manufacturer’s integrated machine vision product range, the device combines imaging, processing, and lighting in a single housing so that machine builders can add inspection, identification, or guidance tasks without an external PC. It executes several vision functions simultaneously, enabling direct quality control or alignment feedback inside automated lines. This integrated layout keeps image capture and evaluation close to the machine process, which supports fast response during automated operation.
Image processing is handled by a Cortex A9 i.MX6 quad-core processor clocked at 800 MHz. Its 4 cores share 2 MB of on-chip cache, including 1 MB of L2, which helps reduce memory latency during feature extraction. The camera carries 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, giving headroom for buffering multiple frames when complex algorithms run in parallel. A global-shutter sensor captures scenes at a native resolution of 1.3 MP, and the internal pipeline sustains up to 90 fps so fast-moving workpieces can be analyzed without motion blur. This level of preprocessing performance fits typical assembly and packaging cycle times.
The optical front end uses an S-mount holder fitted with a 12 mm F4 lens; this focal length pairs with the sensor to yield a horizontal field of view of 37°. Illumination is integrated through 16 LEDs arranged in four independently switchable segments, and the available light colors are R / B / IR / White to optimize contrast on different surfaces. A glass window with a polarizing filter reduces glare, while LED lens type 2 helps maintain uniform intensity across the image. The design is not intended for UV emitters or type 1 LED lenses, which keeps the lighting configuration aligned with the installed optics.
