The VSC122Q25.061P-000 smart camera is produced by B&R Automation as part of the VS Smart Sensors series. It belongs to the smart camera range for integrated machine vision and combines optics, illumination, and processing in one housing for inline inspection, identification, and guidance tasks on automated machinery. This integrated design lets the unit acquire images and evaluate inspection results locally before passing data to the control system.

The imaging block delivers a resolution of 5.3 MP through an F4 2/3" lens fitted to an S-mount holder. With an angular field of 37° and a focal length of 16 mm, the camera captures part features at short working distances while keeping distortion low. A frame rate of 43 fps supports real-time inspection on fast conveyors. Illumination is integrated, and a ring of R / G / B / Lime LEDs sits behind glass with an anti-reflective coating to maximize transmitted light. The array uses 16 LEDs divided into four multicolored segments, driven through LED lens type 2 optics for even scene coverage. Line-sensor suitability allows the same housing to support both area and line scan tasks when required.

The embedded vision processing section is based on a Cortex A9 i.MX6 system-on-chip that runs at 800 MHz. Its quad architecture provides 4 cores, each accessing 2 GB of DDR3 RAM through a shared bus and backed by a 1 MB L2 cache, so classification, measurement, and code-reading algorithms can run without an external PC. The standard preprocessing variant allows several vision functions to run concurrently, which helps reduce cycle time before results are forwarded to the machine controller. This local processing approach supports inspection tasks that need fast image evaluation within the machine.
