The VSC122Q21.052P-000 is a smart camera designed by B&R Automation for the VS Smart Sensors series. It combines imaging, processing, and illumination in one S-mount housing, allowing vision checks to be carried out directly on the production line without a separate controller. Classified in the smart camera product group, it is intended for machine-vision tasks that require local image capture and local processing in the same device. This arrangement supports compact installation where space is limited and where a self-contained inspection unit is preferred.

An onboard Cortex A9 i.MX6 quad-core CPU runs at 800 MHz, and its 4 processing cores work with a 1 MB L2 cache for real-time image analysis. The device carries 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, allowing multiple inspection routines to operate in parallel. A global-shutter sensor captures 1.3 MP images at up to 90 fps, which suits fast sorting and reject applications. The optics use a 12 mm, F4 2/3-inch lens, and the front glass includes a polarizing filter to reduce glare on reflective surfaces. Because the camera does not include line-sensor capability, it is intended for area imaging rather than web inspection.

The integrated illumination ring contains 16 LEDs arranged in four segments. Each emitter can produce R / G / B / Lime light, allowing contrast to be adjusted for different surface features and colors. Segmented lighting helps emphasize edges, printed marks, and reflective details without requiring a separate external light source. The optical path provides a 37° field of view for typical mid-range part sizes. The LEDs use LED lens type 2 optics, and the unit cannot be combined with UV emitters or type 1 LED lenses. Vision preprocessing is the standard variant, so several vision functions can run at the same time without delaying the PLC cycle.
