The VSC122005.000P-000 smart camera is produced by B&R Automation and belongs to the VS Smart Sensors series. By combining imaging, computation, and industrial I/O in one housing, it can execute inspections without an external PC. Within an automation cell, it captures images, analyzes them, and forwards pass-fail data directly to the controller, minimizing network latency. The unit therefore operates as a compact vision node that synchronizes conveyor tracking, presence checks, and code verification with real-time machine control.

Processing is handled by a 800 MHz core complex that provides 4 processing threads, allowing several vision functions to run in parallel. A 2 GB DDR3 memory pool supports image buffering and algorithm execution, while the CMOS sensor captures images at 5.3 MP. Even at this pixel count, the stream sustains 43 fps, so the camera can track moderately fast product flows. Image preprocessing occurs before user code receives the data, which lowers CPU overhead for application tasks.

The silicon platform is a Cortex A9 i.MX6 with an L2 cache of 1 MB that accelerates repetitive data fetches during template matching or barcode decoding. Optically, the housing uses a C-mount interface and ships without a lens or front glass, so the optical path can be tailored to the application. Because there is no integrated LED lighting, external strobes or backlights must be supplied, and line-sensor compatibility allows those light sources to synchronize with continuous web inspection.
