The VSC122004.000P-000 smart camera is produced by B&R Automation for the VS Smart Sensors series. It combines image capture, onboard processing, and result output in one DIN-rail-mountable unit. This design removes the need for an external industrial PC and supports sorting, guiding, and identification tasks on compact automation equipment.
It runs at 800 MHz on a Cortex-A9 i.MX6 platform, allowing 4 cores to process vision algorithms at the same time. A shared 1 MB L2 cache reduces memory access delays during image analysis. The system also includes 2 GB of DDR3 RAM for image buffers, lookup tables, and inspection routines. That computing capacity lets the camera manage multiple checks in one cycle without relying on external scripting.
The CMOS sensor captures images at 3.5 MP resolution, giving enough detail for edge detection, code reading, and character verification. Operation remains effective at 43 fps, which suits moderate-speed assembly and inspection lines. Optics are selected through the C-mount interface, and the unit ships without LED lighting so external illumination can be matched to the application. It is supplied as the standard variant, providing baseline preprocessing performance within the shared software environment. No front glass is supplied, which leaves room for lenses with protruding barrels.
