Product Description:
2UM900.6 is an expansion module manufactured by B&R Automation for the System 2010 Controllers series. The device provides mixed-signal acquisition and low-side switching, allowing a central CPU to interact directly with sensors and actuators used in assembly cells and packaging lines. By combining analog measurement, digital counting, and transistorized power stages in a compact housing, the module reduces wiring and allows the controller rack to process real-time field data without external converters.
The module has four analog input channels that operate with a resolution of 12 bits, providing fine-grained process data from pressure, temperature, or level sensors. Two analog output channels provide current control and can deliver up to 0.5 A continuously. The current setpoint uses 11-bit resolution for controlling devices such as proportional valves. When used in voltage mode, the analog outputs retain 12-bit resolution across a range of ±10 V. Eight digital input points accept signals at 24 VDC, while an input current of 5 mA and an input resistance of 4 kΩ support sourcing proximity switches. The maximum propagation time from a field terminal to the CPU register is 1.2 ms, helping time-sensitive interlocks respond promptly. The module can capture state changes across its eight digital inputs while its transistor outputs operate connected solenoids and other discrete loads.
The eight digital output points use open-collector transistors to switch the 24 V field supply. These outputs are suitable for discrete loads such as indicator lamps, small relays, and solenoid interfaces. Total demand on the module’s internal supply does not exceed 8 W, which supports accurate power budgeting for the System 2010 backplane. The housing measures 285 × 40 × 185 mm and fits in standard 19-inch enclosures while providing space for the screw terminals required by mixed-signal wiring. Its narrow profile conserves rack width without separating the analog and digital connections into additional modules.
