By performing these tasks locally, the device reduces network latency, keeps cycle times predictable, and manages diagnostics, recipe changes, and alarm handling in automated production lines.
Processing performance is supplied by a RISC architecture that completes each basic instruction in 0.8 µs, supporting tight control loops and high-speed event capture. Volatile memory consists of 256 KB of SRAM for user programs and data, while a dual-ported area of 64 KB of SRAM allows simultaneous access from the CPU and peripheral modules without bus contention. Despite this capacity, thermal loading remains low, with a maximum power draw of 12 W. The enclosure measures 285 × 80 × 185 mm, so it fits onto standard DIN rails or backplates inside compact electrical panels. This footprint simplifies retrofits in crowded control cabinets where vertical space is limited.
Three integrated serial channels connect the controller to operator panels, drives, and remote I/O. Interface 1 is an RS-232 port that supports a peak rate of 64 kbaud and maintains reliable signaling over distances of up to 15 m when operated at 19,200 baud. Interface 3 adds galvanic isolation, uses RS-485/RS-422 signaling, and transmits at up to 347 kbaud over multidrop cabling that can span 1,200 m between nodes. These communication options let the CPU exchange deterministic data with field devices while minimizing wiring effort and preserving signal integrity in noisy industrial environments. The isolated differential drivers on interface 3 further reduce susceptibility to ground loops.
