Product Description:
The 2DO710.6 relay output card is a discrete output module produced by B&R Automation for the System 2010 Controllers series. It installs in a System 2010 backplane and switches field loads such as contactors, solenoids, and indicator lamps under PLC control. Galvanically isolated channels allow the card to translate low-level logic commands into mains-level signals for industrial actuators while separating the controller electronics from field circuits.
The relay arrangement includes 8 changeover contacts and 8 normally open contacts, allowing the module to operate both make-and-break circuits from the same board. Each relay supports a rated voltage of 30 VDC or 240 VAC and a rated current of 4 A, so branch protection and field wiring must suit these limits. Under light-signal conditions, the dry contacts have a resistance of only 100 mΩ at 6 VDC and 100 mA, minimizing voltage drop across sensitive loads. A switching request reaches the field terminals after an 13 ms output delay that accounts for relay transit time. Channel separation withstands an isolation test of 2800 VAC for one minute, protecting the controller electronics from voltage differences between field circuits.
The board draws 8 W from the external supply, while its logic consumes an additional 7 W internally, which must be considered when calculating cabinet heat dissipation. Across all relays, the card permits a 64 A total output current when the application observes the ΣIn² ≤ 400 load-sum limit that controls thermal rise in the common conductor. The minimum switching load is 5 VDC at 1 mA, while the contacts can interrupt voltages up to 125 VDC or 264 VAC and withstand transients of 460 V. Electrical endurance reaches 1 × 10⁵ operations at 8 A and 230 VAC, while the mechanical elements last 5 × 10⁶ cycles regardless of the connected load. Single-channel isolation confines an output fault to the affected relay instead of exposing the remaining channels to the same field-circuit condition.
