The 2BP201.4 is a main base plate produced by B & R Automation for the System 2010 Controllers series. Within a System 2010 rack, the plate provides the mechanical and electrical backbone that holds controller and I/O electronics in one assembly. It distributes the internal power and signal lines that connect the inserted modules. The plate also serves as the mounting foundation for field-signal adapters, allowing discrete sensors and actuators to connect through a compact automation node. Its organized rack arrangement reduces the amount of separate mounting hardware required inside the control cabinet.
The plate accommodates up to 4 I/O modules, allowing digital and analog cards to be combined without occupying unnecessary cabinet space. The assembly projects only 20 mm from the mounting surface, which limits its effect on the available panel depth. Its front face measures 160 mm in width and 285 mm in height, providing the dimensions needed to plan mounting clearance, door movement, and cable bends. Communication among the inserted cards travels over an integrated I/O bus, eliminating separate ribbon jumpers and reducing wiring errors. The compact dimensions also leave room for nearby cable ducts, power components, and other rack equipment. Proper spacing around the installed modules supports airflow and provides access to field wiring during routine system maintenance.
The unit is a main base plate module and does not contain the controller logic used to coordinate the rack. It has no system bus, so higher-level control is provided by a separate CPU module installed in the same rack. The plate also has no bus termination, which means an external terminator must be added at the end of the I/O segment when the installation requires one. Correct termination helps control signal reflections along extended backplane connections. Separating the CPU, termination, and I/O functions allows each rack position to be configured for its intended role. The base plate can therefore support the required I/O cards while leaving processing and network coordination to the appropriate System 2010 modules.
