Product Description:

B&R Automation's 2AO900.6 is an analog output module within the System 2010 Controllers series. The module fits a 285 × 40 × 185 mm space in the rack and provides eight voltage channels and eight current channels for actuators, control valves, or signal generators driven by a central PLC. By converting digital setpoints into analog levels, it extends the controller's ability to regulate temperature, pressure, and speed loops across a machine.

The module's basic accuracy is ±0.25% / ±0.5% for voltage and current ranges at room temperature, so small command changes translate into predictable field levels. A conversion cycle of 250 µs lets the host CPU refresh the outputs quickly enough for fast control tasks. The internal low-pass network has a cutoff of 1 kHz, which helps reduce high-frequency noise before it reaches the terminals. Each digital-to-analog converter uses 12-bit resolution, giving 4096 discrete steps across the selected range. During operation, the electronics draw 12 W, which matters when sizing the backplane power supply and cabinet cooling. Voltage channels can source or sink ±10 mA, which helps maintain the commanded level over longer cable runs.

Drift over the full temperature range stays within ±0.5% / ±0.75%, so accuracy is maintained from cold start to the specified ambient limit. Current channels can drive loads down to 600 Ω while staying within the short-circuit limit of ±15 mA, and voltage outputs require at least 1 kΩ to maintain linearity across their range. The analog stage is isolated from the programmable controller's common supply, which supports separation between field wiring and the control system. The outputs share a common reference, so there is no channel-to-channel isolation. The module supports both current and voltage signals in the same rack position without requiring a separate board.
