Product Description:
The 7MM424.70-1 output card is built by B & R Automation for integration into the System 2003 Controllers series. Within a compact rack, the board supplies switched power to field devices and small DC motors, allowing a CPU slice to actuate loads without external relays. By translating controller logic levels into protected high-current channels, the module supports deterministic on/off control commonly used in packaging, material-handling, and general automation cells.
It operates from a nominal supply of 24 VDC, and each channel can deliver a continuous 3.0 A to the connected load. For short acceleration bursts, the output stage tolerates 5 A for up to 200 ms, while an inrush limit of 10 A for 50 ms lets capacitive loads or motor coils energize without nuisance trips. External electronics draw 6.1 W, a value used when sizing the cabinet supply. Thermal cutoff and built-in inductive clamps supplement these ratings by interrupting excessive temperature rise and dissipating back EMF, so wiring fuses seldom open during normal stops.
Four transistors provide the module’s motor control outputs, and the push-pull drive topology provides sourcing and sinking capability at each terminal. Total bus draw never exceeds 8.0 A, and only 0.5 W is consumed by the internal logic, keeping heat generation low inside a crowded rack. The slice is single-width, and the housing carries an IP20 protection rating that limits installation to clean, enclosed panels. Bridge-to-bridge isolation is not implemented, but bridge-to-PLC isolation is present, so fault currents are blocked from the CPU backplane. Current for sensors must be supplied externally. When output thresholds are exceeded, the thermal and inductive protection circuitry disconnects the channel until conditions return to normal.
