Product Description:
The 7DO720.7 output module is manufactured by B & R Automation for use with the System 2003 Controllers series. As a relay-based digital output card, it enables a controller to actuate external loads such as solenoid valves, contactors, or indicator lamps within an automated production line. By converting logic-level commands into isolated relay contacts, the unit permits safe switching of both AC and DC circuits while shielding the low-voltage electronics residing on the back-plane.
It offers 8 independent Form-A relay channels, each able to carry up to 2 A of load current. Nominal switching levels are 240 VAC for alternating loads or 30 VDC for direct-current circuits, while the contacts can withstand a maximum of 264 VAC / 110 VDC. For power handling, the card supports alternating loads up to 480 VA and direct-current loads up to 60 W. Contact resistance remains 30 mΩ at 6 VDC, 1 A to limit voltage drop. Isolation between individual contacts is 750 VAC for one minute, preventing crosstalk among output circuits. The output type is relay, normally open, so the field device is energized only when the controller commands a high state.
Its operate time is controlled by a make delay of 10 ms, followed by a release delay of 10 ms, giving predictable turn-on and turn-off edges in timed sequences. The board draws only 1.4 W from the System 2003 back-plane, minimizing internal heat. Dielectric strength from contact set to the coil is reinforced to 2000 VAC / 1 min, and a 16 AT slow-blow fuse on the supply line guards against short-circuit currents that exceed the per-channel rating. These protections, together with the relay’s rated isolation and switching figures, permit dependable operation of actuators and signal lamps that fit within the module’s electrical envelope.
