The 7DM465.7 is an I/O expansion module in the System 2003 Controllers series from B&R Automation. It mounts on the series backplane to pass field signals to a central CPU and to switch low-voltage devices used in automated equipment. This mixed I/O layout lets one module monitor switches, proximity sensors, and similar status points while also energizing indicator lamps, relays, or other 24 V field devices. By combining input sensing and output control in one housing, the module helps reduce discrete wiring and conserve cabinet space in industrial systems.
The input section provides 16 digital inputs that use a sink connection method and accept a nominal 24 VDC signal. A front-end filter of ≤1 ms helps suppress contact bounce so the controller responds to valid state changes instead of noise. The module does not provide input or interchannel isolation, although PLC isolation is present to protect the CPU segment. Because the channels share a common reference, wiring layout should keep return paths orderly within the cabinet. The carrier supports 2 logical module slots, which allows the 7DM465.7 to sit beside other System 2003 cards without increasing rack width.
