Product Description:

B&R Automation's 7DM435.7 I/O module belongs to the System 2003 Controllers series. It installs on the system backplane and provides digital signaling so that a PLC can read field switches and drive actuators from the same compact card. By combining isolated input sensing with transistorized high-side outputs, the unit streamlines panel wiring in distributed control cabinets used across automated machinery. This arrangement lets one module handle both status acquisition and load switching in compact control nodes where space is limited.

The input side is designed around a nominal 24 VDC control supply, and it accepts sink or source wiring so existing sensor conventions can be maintained. A logic high is recognized when the channel exceeds >15 V, while anything below <5 V is treated as low, giving wide noise margins in industrial environments. Each of the eight inputs tolerates up to 30 VDC without damage, and the module guarantees response within 1 ms, allowing fast edge detection for position or safety signals. Internally, the card is referenced to a negative anode potential of 47 V that protects the LED couplers from reverse stress. Overall current drawn from the backplane stays within 4 A, which helps limit the electrical load on the host system during operation.

The transistor stage drives eight outputs that share a high-side driver IC architecture. Each channel can deliver up to 0.5 A, and thermal overload circuitry disconnects the path when necessary to protect the output stage during fault conditions. During normal operation, the board dissipates no more than 0.5 W, so heat buildup inside a densely packed enclosure stays limited. With a 24 VDC nominal output rail, the card aligns with common solenoids and indicator lamps, yet residual voltage on an inactive line is held to an 12 µA off-state leakage, preventing unintended actuator motion. This output behavior helps the module switch field devices cleanly while keeping standby effects on connected loads very low.
