The 7BP706.0 rack is a modular controller frame produced by B & R Automation within the System 2003 Controllers series. Intended for industrial control cabinets, the rack provides the mechanical backbone that holds I/O, power supply, and CPU modules while routing their backplane signals. By combining rigid aluminum construction with integrated mounting hardware, the rack simplifies installation and keeps System 2003 modules positioned securely for continuous machine operation. It forms part of distributed automation nodes where orderly wiring and consistent module alignment are important. Its fixed layout also helps keep connected modules seated correctly across the length of the frame.

The rack occupies a panel width of 467.5 mm, a rack height of 115 mm, and a depth of 23 mm, so enclosure planners can calculate clearances in three axes before placing adjacent equipment. The frame is aluminum, which helps limit weight while maintaining rigidity against vibration inside the cabinet. DIN rail attachment follows the EN 60715 (TH35-7.5) profile, allowing the rack to clip directly onto a standard 35 mm top-hat rail without additional brackets. Each module slides into position and mates through a 9-pin D-Sub plug-and-socket connection that carries system power and serial backplane signals, reducing the need for loose internal harnesses. Side sections are included to close the rack and help keep the installed modules aligned.

With modules installed, the overall stack rises to 146 mm, so service doors can be sized to accommodate field wiring loops above the frame. The carrier provides 6 dedicated module slots, and each module is supported on the upper rail and secured with screws to the threaded strips to resist shock loads. B & R Automation specifies a minimum clearance of 35 mm beneath and 30 mm above the rack to keep convection paths open and to reduce cable strain near the module terminals. Integrated mounting hardware eliminates extra brackets, and the 8.5 mm side hardware adds only a small amount of width during retrofit work. This arrangement also leaves the modules accessible for removal without disturbing the full rack assembly.
