The 7AT352.7 is a temperature acquisition module produced by B&R Automation for the System 2003 Controllers series. Designed for integration into a controller backplane, the module conditions resistance signals from platinum RTDs and forwards the converted data to the CPU for closed-loop temperature control tasks common in packaging, plastics, and HVAC machinery. It attaches as a screw-in field module and occupies minimal rack space, allowing machine builders to add precise thermal feedback without separate signal conditioners or external wiring terminals.
Signal fidelity centers on a basic accuracy of ±(0.17 + 0.0005 × TF) °C, so deviation remains low even when the process temperature drifts. Measurement data are digitized by a 16-bit converter that provides 65,536 discrete counts across the selected range, giving the controller fine resolution for PID loops. The unit has 2 input channels for signals from separate sensing points. These channels share a common reference because channel-to-channel and channel-to-PLC isolation are not provided. With mains-frequency noise rejection enabled, a complete conversion requires 20 ms at 50 Hz or 16.67 ms at 60 Hz, balancing noise suppression with update speed.
The module dissipates only 0.4 W, reducing panel heat buildup and permitting dense stacking behind the IP20 front cover used across the System 2003 platform. It supports the industry-standard PT100 resistance thermometer in a balanced 3-wire connection, which compensates for lead resistance without additional software scaling. Signed integers in INT format are placed on the I/O bus, so the host CPU can read raw counts without floating-point overhead. Screw-in mounting secures the card against vibration in industrial machinery. Integrated supply-voltage protection guards the electronics against wiring errors on the 24 V service rail.
