Internal Product Review
The 7AT351.70 is a System 2003 controller analog input module for PT100 resistance measurement. In-module automatic conversion and 3-wire connection support accurate, stable temperature acquisition in industrial control panels. A -200 to +850 °C measurement span makes the module a strong choice for wide-range thermal monitoring.

Product Description:
The 7AT351.70 temperature input module is produced by B&R Automation for the System 2003 Controllers series. It occupies an Analog Interface CP slot inside the backplane and translates resistance signals from platinum sensors into controller-readable data. Within an industrial automation cell, the module supplies the CPU with precise process temperatures so heating, cooling, or safety functions can respond in real time. Because it handles a dedicated sensor line, the device reduces wiring effort compared with external transmitters.
The module provides one input channel that performs resistance measurement on a connected PT100 sensor. A 3-wire connection compensates for lead resistance so the value delivered to the controller reflects only the element temperature. Signal conditioning is handled internally through automatic in-module conversion, eliminating the need for external calibration cards. In the upper measurement span, the converter delivers 0.1 °C resolution, allowing tight control of processes such as ovens or chemical baths. A constant excitation of 2 mA passes through the sensing element, and the analog value is linearized according to IEC/EN 60751. The card supports two selectable measurement ranges, letting the user match its 16-bit data width to expected process temperatures while keeping noise suppressed.
The second range increases resolution to 0.01 °C for narrow-band applications that require detailed profiling around setpoint. The module covers temperatures from -200 °C to +850 °C, enabling the same hardware to monitor cryogenic storage as well as furnace zones. Even at maximum span, it dissipates only 0.3 W, which helps limit heat buildup when many channels share the same power bus. Installation uses a screw-in module style, and the 3-way terminal block mates directly with shielded sensor cable. The module follows the dimensional and electrical requirements of the System 2003 rack, so it fits the backplane without special interface hardware.
