Product Description:

B & R Automation manufactures the 7AO352.70 analog output unit for the System 2003 Controllers series. The module mounts on the I/O rack and provides two independent voltage or current channels driven directly by the central processor. Its function is to translate numerical setpoints into continuous electrical signals so actuators, drives, and proportional valves can be regulated by the host PLC in industrial automation cells. This direct output arrangement allows the controller to send analog command values without requiring a separate external conversion stage.

Each output uses a 12-bit digital-to-analog converter, giving 4096 discrete steps across the full scale. When configured for voltage mode, the channel operates over a range of ±10 V, while current-mode compliance is maintained with load resistance up to 400 Ω. The voltage gain error is limited to ±0.3 %, which is the maximum proportional deviation between commanded and delivered levels. The module dissipates only 1.2 W, which helps limit panel heat in dense I/O assemblies. Two outputs share a single supply rail, and neither the channel side nor the PLC side is galvanically isolated, so connected circuits must use the common system ground.

Fine-scale accuracy includes a voltage offset of ±5.2 mV and a current gain error of ±0.06 %, both of which remain stable over the stated temperature range. Current linearity is held to ±0.13 %, which helps the output follow setpoint changes smoothly across the scale. In voltage mode, the card can deliver up to 10 mA, and the voltage output stays within the stated linearity band at the final value. The housing is rated to IP20, so the module is intended for installation in ventilated control cabinets. It is suitable for applications that need compact analog signal generation for motion axes, temperature controllers, and process actuators.
