Product Description:

The 7AI294.7 is a compact 2003 analog input module produced by B&R Automation for its classic automation systems. It employs a special potentiometer evaluation mechanism, allowing it to dynamically adjust input parameters during operation. As part of B&R Automation’s earliest automation devices, this device uses a single-ended input with a range of 0 to the potentiometer voltage. In total, this handy module can accommodate up to four analog inputs simultaneously. As a screw-in module, it is optimized for wall mounting and comes with a set of mounting screws. Like other analog input modules, this device employs an analog-to-digital converter.

Based on B&R Automation’s documentation, the 7AI294.7 has a converter resolution of 13 bits. At any point in time, this device can maintain a maximum continuous overload voltage of up to 30 V except for its GND connection pin. Whenever functioning normally, this device has a conversion time of 4 ms for all channels. The conversion method employed by this module is sample and hold. Under the sample and hold method, the electrical signal (whether voltage or current) is maintained at the present value until the next sampling period. By sampling the signal at different intervals and holding the value per interval, the converter is able to convert a continuous-time signal into a discrete-time signal.

At most, the 7AI294.7’s converter can consume a power of 0.5 W. Although this device does not provide isolation voltages between the channel and the bus, external protection devices can be used. Like other 2003 modules by B&R Automation, the potentiometer feed voltage has a rated voltage of 4.5 V at 40 mA. Wake Industrial offers a limited warranty for this compact analog module.
