Product Description:
The M2NTCP63-0 is a multi control module produced by B&R Automation within the M2N Multi Control Modules series. In distributed automation systems, this compact board serves as the local logic unit that links field devices and higher-level controllers, executes application code, generates timing signals, and forwards data over serial buses. Its combination of processing power and communication features makes it suitable for packaging machines, assembly lines, and other equipment that relies on coordinated motion and I/O sequencing.
At the core of the unit is a Motorola 6809 microprocessor that handles byte-code execution and interrupt management. Program variables and buffers reside in 42 KByte RAM, which is suitable for deterministic control tasks and data exchange with neighboring nodes. The application interface supports RS485/RS232/TTY, allowing the module to adapt to differential or single-ended wiring topologies without additional converters. Precise event scheduling is achieved through 88 hardware timers that operate independently of CPU load, while another 64 software timers are available for noncritical delays or watchdog functions. These resources separate high-speed machine events from background diagnostics without compromising scan time.
Field power is supplied at 24 VDC, so the board can share the same supply used by sensors and actuators. For setup, the dedicated online interface transmits TTY characters at 62.5 kBaud, keeping the application port free for plant traffic. Logic circuits draw only 2.0 W from the +15 V rail and 4.0 W from the +8 V rail, which helps limit heat buildup in compact cabinets. Because there is no reset button and no status display, remote diagnostics must be performed through the communication ports or through user-defined LED outputs on the carrier backplane.
