Product Description:
The 8LSN55.EB020D900-0 is a three-phase synchronous motor produced by B&R Automation for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. Classified under the 8LSN designation, the unit serves as a compact drive source for positioning and speed-controlled axes in automated machinery. Its synchronous design supports coordinated movement in packaging equipment, handling systems, and other applications that require accurate control of rotary motion. The motor is supplied with a mounting flange so it can be bolted directly to compatible machine frames without additional adapters.
The flange has a mechanical interface size of 142 mm, providing a pilot diameter that centers the motor housing during installation. Cables exit through an angled swivel connector, allowing the harness position to be adjusted to reduce strain where installation space is limited. The shaft has a keyed section that provides positive engagement with pulleys or couplings. An oil seal separates the internal lubricant from external contaminants around the shaft opening. Heat is removed through a self-cooling design, which dissipates operating heat without an external fan or liquid-cooling circuit. Emergency stopping and load holding are provided by a standard holding brake that clamps the rotor when power is removed. Length code 5 indicates the active magnetic stack depth used for this motor configuration.
Rotor position is measured by an inductive EnDat sensor that sends feedback to the drive controller through EnDat version 2.1. The encoder provides a 19/12-bit resolution for single-turn and multi-turn position data, respectively. It also has a multi-turn range of 4,096 revolutions and retains position tracking without battery support. At its rated operating point, the motor reaches 2,000 rpm, which suits the velocity requirements of many packaging lines and handling gantries. Continuous position feedback allows the controller to monitor rotor movement and correct deviations while regulating torque, speed, and position. The inductive measurement method is suitable for industrial machinery where dependable feedback is required during repeated operating cycles.
