Product Description:
The 8LSAA2.D9045S000-3 is a rotary motor manufactured by B & R Automation for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. Carrying the internal designation 8LSA, it is intended for use as a motion axis in industrial automation systems that require a compact motor and accurate control. Its permanent-magnet construction supports responsive operation when paired with a compatible servo drive. Field-oriented control allows the system to regulate torque and speed precisely in machine tools, packaging equipment, and material-handling stations.
The motor reaches a rated speed of 4500 rpm, allowing it to support high-cycle applications without additional gearing. A 70 mm flange provides the mounting interface, while the smooth shaft connects directly to low-backlash couplings. Position feedback is supplied by an inductive EnDat encoder using protocol version 2.2, which transmits absolute position through single-turn and multi-turn data. Power and feedback signals share a single-cable solution that terminates in a standard connector, simplifying routing through cable chains. Thermal losses are removed through self-cooling with free air circulation, so an external fan is unnecessary. The motor has length code 2, which keeps the magnetic stack and housing short for installations with limited axial space. Product revision 3 incorporates the corresponding component configuration for this model. A mounting flange is included, but the motor has no reinforced bearing, oil seal, or holding brake. The absence of a holding brake means that drive torque or an external mechanism must retain stationary loads when required.
The three-phase synchronous design provides consistent torque across a broad operating range and is compatible with typical B & R servo drives. The feedback system retains an absolute multi-turn count of 4096 revolutions, allowing the controller to recover the recorded axis position after a power interruption without requiring a separate reference sensor. Single-turn position data has a resolution of 19/12 bits, providing detailed angular information for closed-loop control. This feedback supports repeatable indexing, coordinated machine motion, and accurate positioning in applications with frequent starts and stops. The compact frame and smooth shaft also suit direct-drive arrangements where coupling backlash and installation space must be kept low.
