Product Description:
The 8LSA55.EA030D000-1 is an AC servo motor built by B&R Automation for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. As a compact rotary actuator, it couples directly to machine shafts to deliver position and speed control in automated packaging lines, pick-and-place stations, and similar applications that require rapid indexing. This motor uses a three-phase synchronous design that provides controlled rotary motion when paired with a compatible servo drive.
The motor reaches a rated speed of 3000 rpm, allowing consistent cycle times when driven by a matching inverter. Heat is removed through a self-cooling housing that relies on free air circulation, so no separate fan is needed. Mechanical attachment uses a 142 mm flange with through holes for alignment on mounting plates. Power and feedback conductors exit through an angled connection, and the swivel orientation simplifies cable routing where installation space is limited. A connector interface is supplied instead of hard wiring, while the 8LSA configuration code indicates the standard build without a reinforced bearing. Because the motor does not include a holding brake, any static load must be supported by drive torque or an external clamp when the shaft is stationary.
Rotor position is measured by an inductive EnDat sensor that operates with the EnDat 2.1 protocol, providing digital feedback directly to compatible motion controllers. The encoder has a 19-bit single-turn resolution and does not support multiturn tracking, allowing precise incremental movement within one mechanical revolution. A smooth shaft mates with friction or shrink-fit couplings and can reduce backlash compared with keyed hubs. The absence of an oil seal makes the motor suitable for clean, dry operating areas where the shaft is not exposed to lubricants or liquid contaminants. Length code 5 indicates the stator stack depth selected for the EA030 winding, balancing rotor inertia with the winding’s torque requirements during acceleration and repeated indexing cycles.
