Product Description:
The 8LSA55.DA030D100-3 is a rotary drive element manufactured by B&R Automation within the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. It is intended for closed-loop motion tasks in assembly cells, packaging lines, and material transfer stations where repeatable position and speed control are required. The 8LSA designation indicates a standard build without a reinforced bearing, and the motor is supplied in product revision 3. An integrated mounting flange allows the unit to be fastened quickly to machine frames and aligned with coupled loads.
In operation, the motor reaches a rated speed of 3000 rpm, which suits mid-range servo axes that require consistent torque at moderate shaft velocity. Heat generated by the stator is removed through self-cooling by free circulation, so no external blower or liquid circuit is required. A flange dimension of 142 mm sets the interface pattern and supports rigid mounting on standard IEC adapters. Position feedback is provided by an inductive EnDat encoder that works with protocol version 2.2. Its internal electronics provide a 19/0 bit resolution for single-turn and multi-turn data, giving fine electrical commutation while keeping wiring minimal through a single hybrid connector.
Electrical integration is simplified by an angled swivel cable outlet, which turns the preassembled connector toward the control cabinet wall and helps limit bending radius. The motor uses a three-phase synchronous stator, allowing ACOPOS drives to deliver smooth torque during controlled motion. At the mechanical interface, a keyed shaft end helps lock hubs against slip under repeated start-stop cycles. The motor has no holding brake, so any holding function must be provided externally. There is also no oil seal at the front bearing, which reduces friction and avoids seal wear in high-duty operation.
