Product Description:
The 8LSA55.DB030S300-3 belongs to the 8LS Synchronous Motors series produced by B & R Automation. It is intended for distributed automation axes that require direct machine mounting and compact cabling. Within this series, it carries the internal designation 8LSA and is supplied as product revision 3. A mounting flange with a 142 mm square outline and a 130 mm centering diameter allows direct attachment to gearboxes or machine frames, while a keyed shaft end transfers torque to the load. The motor uses a single-cable hybrid connection, so power, feedback, and brake conductors share one connector, which simplifies routing in cabinets and drag chains. Self-cooling through free air circulation eliminates the need for an external blower.
At a nominal current of 7.1 A, the motor delivers 3644 W of mechanical power and 11.6 Nm of torque at a rated speed of 3000 rpm. Four pole pairs and a voltage constant of 98.44 V/1000 rpm match the motor to standard inverter outputs, and an inductive EnDat encoder version 2.2 provides absolute feedback with 19/12-bit resolution and multi-turn tracking over 4096 revolutions. This feedback arrangement supports closed-loop positioning and speed control without requiring a separate sensor package. Rotor response is affected by an inertia of 8.19 kg cm². The stator has a phase inductance of 12.5 mH and a phase resistance of 1.127 Ω, while the keyed circular connector is mounted on the stator housing and length code 5 sets the overall body depth. No oil seal is fitted, so added protection is needed where fluid ingress is possible.
For short-term demand, the motor can reach 41.4 Nm of maximum shaft torque. During power-off, a standard holding brake with 15 Nm secures the shaft. The torque constant is 1.63 Nm/A, and efficiency reaches 96.3% under rated conditions. The brake is intended for holding, and the motor uses standard bearings rather than reinforced bearings. Axial loading should remain appropriate for the application.
