The 8LSA54.DB020S900-3 is a three-phase synchronous motor manufactured by B&R Automation for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. In factory automation, the unit couples directly to gearboxes or belt drives, converting electrical energy from a servo inverter into controlled rotation for positioning, indexing, or continuous-speed tasks. Its compact frame allows the motor to fit into machines with limited installation space and strict inertia constraints. The synchronous design supports precise torque regulation when the motor is paired with a compatible servo drive.
Mounting is handled by a flange that measures 142 mm square, providing clearances compatible with IEC size-142 gear stages. Position feedback comes from an inductive EnDat transducer, which is less sensitive to light contamination and shock than an optical feedback device. The interface uses EnDat version 2.2, allowing its cable length and communication rate to match modern B&R inverters. Under nominal conditions, the rotor reaches 2000 rpm, balancing rotational speed with the motor’s available torque and passive heat dissipation. The encoder provides 19/12 bits of single-turn and multi-turn resolution, allowing the controller to determine position accurately without an external sensor.
