Product Description:
The 8LSA46.SB060S300-3 is a three-phase synchronous motor produced by B&R Automation for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. It delivers precise torque and speed control for industrial handling, packaging, and assembly systems. The standard configuration uses conventional bearings rather than reinforced bearings, making it suitable for light- to medium-duty automation tasks. Direct mounting is achieved through a flange interface, and the shaft end is supplied with a key for positive torque transfer. This arrangement supports secure coupling while conserving space in compact machine frames.
At the rated speed of 6000 rpm, the rotor supports rapid indexing while dissipating heat through self-cooling and free air circulation. Power, feedback, and brake conductors share a hybrid cable that provides a single-cable solution. The cable terminates in a rugged industrial connector that simplifies installation and cable routing. Position data is produced by an optical EnDat encoder that uses the EnDat 2.2 protocol, providing the drive with absolute multi-turn position information and low-latency feedback. Internal length code 6 indicates the active stack height, balancing continuous torque with the overall motor length. The resulting housing depth accommodates installations where the available mounting space is limited.
The mechanical interface has a flange diameter of 100 mm, matching common IEC dimensions. A standard holding brake secures the shaft when power is removed, helping prevent unintended movement on stationary axes. The multi-turn counter records up to 4096 revolutions, allowing the controller to retain position information across numerous shaft rotations without requiring a homing cycle. Feedback resolution reaches 19/12 bits for single-turn and multi-turn position data, enabling accurate interpolation in servo control loops. The motor is supplied as product revision 3. It does not include an oil seal, which reduces shaft friction when the surrounding area is protected from oil, dust, and other contaminants.
