Product Description:
The 8LSA46.R2045C600-3 is an electrically commutated servo motor built by B & R Automation for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. It serves as a compact rotary actuator for industrial automation systems where precise position and velocity control are required to coordinate axes on packaging machines, handling gantries, and assembly cells. The motor delivers its nominal mechanical output at 4500 rpm, a rated speed that pairs with high-speed drives to shorten cycle times.
A flange diameter of 100 mm provides the interface dimensions needed for direct coupling to gearboxes or machine frames. Heat is removed through a self-cooling design that relies on free air circulation, eliminating the need for forced ventilation hardware. Rotor position is returned to the drive through a resolver, providing analog sine-cosine feedback that withstands electrical noise and high temperatures. Power and feedback leads exit through a straight top connector, simplifying cable routing in confined installations while preventing interference with adjacent devices. This connector arrangement also allows the cables to rise directly from the motor housing instead of extending from either side.
The 8LSA designation indicates a standard configuration without a reinforced bearing, and length code 6 identifies the active stack height used to meet torque requirements without changing the frame size. Internally, the stator is wound for a three-phase synchronous supply, allowing operation with compatible inverter outputs. A factory-installed oil seal protects the bearings against lubricant washout and airborne contaminants, while the smooth shaft accommodates backlash-free clamping couplings. Positioning repeatability is maintained within 6 arcmin, supporting moderate-accuracy tasks such as indexing tables and palletizers. Mechanical attachment is handled by a mounting flange, allowing the motor to be secured directly to a gearbox or machine surface. No holding brake is present, so the drive or an external locking device must retain static loads when the motor is stopped. The motor is released as product revision 3.
