The 8LSA45.EA030D100-3 is a three-phase synchronous motor built by B&R Automation for positioning and velocity tasks in industrial automation. It belongs to the 8LS Synchronous Motors series and carries the internal designation 8LSA with length code 5. A mounting flange permits direct attachment to machine frames, while the keyed shaft end provides positive torque transmission to couplings. The compact housing and swiveling connection orientation make the motor suitable for servo axes in packaging, electronic assembly, and material-handling equipment. Its synchronous design allows a compatible servo drive to regulate shaft position and speed in response to machine control commands.
The motor achieves a rated speed of 3000 rpm under nominal operating conditions. Thermal management uses self-cooling with free air circulation, eliminating the need for auxiliary blowers and allowing installation in densely packed enclosures with sufficient ventilation. Power and feedback conductors leave the stator through an angled swivel cable exit. The pluggable connector allows the conductors to be disconnected without disturbing fixed cable routes. The mounting flange measures 100 mm square, providing a compact interface for attachment to the machine frame. Because the motor does not have a holding brake, stationary loads must be secured by drive-applied torque or an external locking device. Product revision 3 uses the standard, nonreinforced bearing configuration.
Position feedback is generated by an inductive EnDat encoder that operates with protocol version 2.1. The transducer provides 19 bits of single-turn resolution and 0 bits of multi-turn resolution. Its single-turn output is suitable for indexing tables or linear stages whose monitored motion does not need multi-turn position tracking. The EnDat channel sends absolute position data within one mechanical revolution to the drive, allowing the controller to determine the angular position after power is restored. This arrangement supports precise commutation and closed-loop position control without requiring multi-turn data storage in the encoder. An external oil seal is required when the motor is exposed to lubricants or coolant because the housing does not include an integrated oil seal. Appropriate sealing around the shaft helps prevent process fluids from reaching the bearing area during operation.
