B&R Automation manufactures the 8LSA45.E0030D100-0 motor as part of the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. This three-phase synchronous machine drives axis groups and positioning stages in industrial automation, where controlled torque and accurate movement are required. The motor uses the standard 8LSA configuration without a reinforced bearing, making it suitable for common-duty motion applications. An integral mounting flange provides a rigid connection to machine frames, gearboxes, and other driven equipment. Its synchronous operation supports coordinated motion when the motor is paired with a compatible servo drive and control system.
The motor uses a three-phase synchronous design and reaches a rated speed of 3000 rpm during continuous operation. Its flange measures 100 mm, providing the mounting dimensions needed for alignment with compatible equipment. Length code 5 indicates the motor’s housing and internal stack length. Power, feedback, and brake conductors pass through an angled swivel connector interface, which can be repositioned to accommodate restricted installation space and reduce cable strain. The mating connection uses a connector instead of a permanently attached cable, allowing the appropriate cable assembly to be selected for the installation. The motor does not include a holding brake, so an external holding method is required when stationary vertical loads must be secured. It also has no oil seal, so the shaft area should be protected from lubricant intrusion and contaminants by the connected equipment when necessary.
Rotor position feedback is provided through Optical EnDat signaling in version 2.1. The encoder supplies single-turn position data with a resolution of 13/0 bits, allowing a compatible drive to determine the angular position within one mechanical revolution. Because the feedback is single-turn, applications that require position retention across multiple shaft revolutions must track those revolutions through the control system. Heat is dissipated through self-cooling with free air circulation, eliminating the need for an external fan or liquid-cooling circuit. Adequate clearance around the housing allows naturally circulating air to carry heat away during operation. A keyed shaft end provides positive torque transfer to a coupling, pulley, or gearbox input. The swivel connection can be oriented before cable routing, helping prevent sharp bends near the motor housing without changing the motor’s mounting position.
