Product Description:
The 8LSA45.DB022S300-3 is a three-phase synchronous servo motor manufactured by B&R Automation for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. In automated cells, the motor converts inverter-supplied current into precise shaft torque, enabling accurate position and velocity control for pick-and-place axes, feeders, and auxiliary spindles. Its standard configuration uses conventional bearings rather than reinforced bearings, making it suitable for applications with standard radial load requirements. The motor can be paired with a compatible servo inverter to regulate acceleration, speed, torque, and stopping behavior throughout repeated machine cycles.
The motor operates at a rated speed of 2200 rpm, supporting moderate gear ratios without exceeding the rotor’s intended operating range. Position feedback is provided by an inductive EnDat measuring system that uses protocol version 2.2 for digital communication with the drive. The encoder provides 19/12 bits of single-turn and multi-turn resolution, corresponding to 524,288 positions per revolution and absolute cycle tracking across 4,096 revolutions. Signal, motor power, and brake conductors pass through a single-cable solution with a sealed hybrid connector, reducing the number of cables routed through the machine. An integrated standard holding brake secures the shaft when power is removed, which helps prevent vertical loads from drifting. Mechanical length code 5 indicates the motor’s stack depth, while product revision 3 identifies the applicable winding revision. Torque is transmitted through a keyed shaft end, providing positive engagement with a compatible coupling, pulley, or gearbox input.
The front mounting flange follows an IEC pattern and has a 100 mm pilot that centers the motor on the mating machine surface. Heat is removed by a self-cooling open design that relies on free air circulation instead of an external blower or liquid-cooling circuit. Adequate clearance around the housing is therefore necessary to prevent nearby components from restricting airflow during continuous operation. The connector-oriented arrangement keeps the cable entry close to the housing, helping reduce the installation space required around the motor. No oil seal is installed at the output end, so the motor is intended for clean operating areas or must be paired with an external sealing arrangement where oil, coolant, or splash exposure may occur.
