The 8LSA44.DB060S300-3 is a three-phase synchronous servo motor manufactured by B&R Automation for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. Within industrial automation cells, the motor converts commanded current from a drive into rotary motion that moves belts, indexing tables, or screw actuators with repeatable accuracy. Its electrical and mechanical interfaces support integration with compatible flanges, couplings, drives, and encoder cables. The permanent-magnet design provides responsive torque for positioning and speed-controlled applications. This configuration has the 8LSA designation, length code 4, and product revision 3.
Power, brake, and feedback conductors exit through a single-cable hybrid solution, reducing the number of cabinet entry points and simplifying cable routing. Heat generated in the stator is dissipated by self-cooling with free air circulation, so no auxiliary fan or coolant manifold is required. The electromagnetic design supports a rated speed of 6000 rpm, giving servo loops a wide velocity range for rapid indexing movements. Rotor position is measured with an inductive EnDat sensor that communicates through EnDat 2.2 and returns absolute position data after a reset. The encoder has a resolution of 19 single-turn bits and 12 multi-turn bits, providing precise position and velocity data for demanding motion processes. Long-term position reference is maintained by a multi-turn range of 4096 revolutions, which reduces the need for homing after an extended power loss. Mechanical power leaves the motor through a shaft with a key, ensuring positive engagement with pulleys or couplings. Because the motor does not have an oil seal, it should be installed in a dry area or used with suitable external sealing. The keyed connection also helps prevent relative rotation between the shaft and a properly fitted mechanical component under load.
