Product Description:
The 8LSA44.DB060S000-3 is a three-phase synchronous motor manufactured by B & R Automation for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. The 8LSA configuration code indicates a standard build without reinforced bearings, making the unit suitable for agile axes that do not experience excessive radial loads. Intended for compact packaging lines, pick-and-place modules, and electronic assembly equipment, it converts inverter current into precise rotary motion while minimizing cabinet wiring. Its synchronous design supports controlled acceleration, accurate positioning, and repeatable speed regulation when paired with a compatible servo drive.
The motor has a mounting flange with a diameter of 100 mm, while length code 4 indicates a medium magnetic stack that balances torque capacity and mass. Heat is dissipated through self-cooling with free air circulation, eliminating the need for an external blower when sufficient ambient airflow is available. Power and feedback use a single-cable solution with a plug-in connector, reducing the number of separate cable runs between the motor and drive. The internal counter supports up to 4096 revolutions of multi-turn position tracking. The winding has a nominal speed of 6000 rpm, supporting fast indexing in high-cycle machinery. The motor is supplied without a holding brake, so an external mechanism or drive-applied torque must retain stationary loads. It also has no oil seal, which reduces shaft friction but requires the coupling area to remain protected from oil and other contaminants.
The position loop is closed by an inductive EnDat encoder that communicates through protocol version 2.2. Its 19/12-bit resolution provides 19-bit single-turn position data and 12-bit multi-turn tracking. The single-turn value corresponds to 524,288 discrete positions per revolution, allowing the drive controller to detect small changes in rotor position. A smooth shaft supports connection to low-backlash gearheads, pulleys, or clamping couplings without requiring a keyed interface. Product revision 3 identifies the electrical revision of this motor configuration. The plug-in connection and absolute encoder allow the drive to receive position information immediately after startup without a separate homing movement.
