Product Description:
The 8LSA44.D1022D400-0 is a three-phase synchronous servo motor manufactured by B & R Automation as part of the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. In automated machinery, the motor converts drive current from a servo inverter into controlled rotary motion. It can position tooling, conveyor sections, or auxiliary axes with repeatable accuracy. Its 100 mm flange supports installation in mid-power assemblies and attaches to the machine through a standard mounting interface.
The motor uses self-cooling with free air circulation, allowing ambient airflow to remove stator heat without external fans or liquid circuits. Its nominal shaft speed of 2200 rpm supports applications such as indexing tables and feed rollers. For load retention during a power loss, the motor incorporates a heavy-duty holding brake, allowing vertical or suspended axes to remain stationary. Position feedback is delivered by an optical EnDat encoder, which enables bidirectional digital communication with the drive. This feedback supports high-resolution commutation and allows diagnostic information to be exchanged with the connected servo system.
The encoder provides 25-bit single-turn and 12-bit multi-turn resolution, supplying fine position data while tracking up to 4096 revolutions without battery support. Power and feedback lines exit through an angled connector, which can swivel to simplify cable routing in confined installations and reduce strain at the connection point. Mechanical power is transmitted through a smooth shaft, making the motor suitable for couplings that use clamping hubs and eliminating stress concentrations associated with a keyway. The motor does not have an oil seal, which reduces shaft drag and suits operation in clean environments where exposure to lubricants or contaminants is limited. Its length code 4 stator stack provides a balance between torque density and overall motor depth for compact gantry systems, packaging stations, and other space-limited machinery.
