The 8LSA37.DA060S000-3 is a three-phase synchronous motor manufactured by B & R Automation for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. It provides regulated torque and speed for positioning axes in industrial automation equipment such as pick-and-place gantries, Cartesian robots, and packaging stations. The motor interfaces with B & R servo drives through a hybrid cable that combines power and feedback connections. This arrangement reduces the amount of wiring required while supporting tightly coordinated multi-axis motion in space-limited machinery.
A single-cable hybrid connection routes stator power and encoder signals through one connector, simplifying cable routing between the motor and drive. Thermal management relies on self-cooling through free air circulation, so no external fan or coolant circuit is required. Under nominal load, the rotor sustains 6000 rpm, making the unit suitable for high-speed feed screws and belt-driven stages. Position feedback is supplied by an inductive EnDat encoder that supports the EnDat 2.2 interface for digital absolute position transmission. The housing has a 91.3 mm flange, allowing direct attachment to gearboxes or machine plates with a compatible mounting interface.
The motor has length code 7, which keeps its overall depth moderate for installations with limited axial space. Its smooth shaft mates with clamp couplings or compression hubs without requiring a keyway. The encoder provides 19-bit single-turn and 0-bit multiturn resolution, so it reports absolute position within one mechanical revolution without battery-backed multiturn counting. The standard 8LSA configuration uses regular bearings rather than reinforced bearings. The motor does not include an internal brake, so the drive must provide electrical holding torque when the axis is stationary. The design also omits an oil seal, reducing shaft friction and the number of serviceable components. Product revision 3 supports use with the corresponding B & R drive parameters.
