The 8LSA34.DB060S200-3 is a three-phase synchronous motor by B & R Automation, part of the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. It features an inductive EnDat encoder with multi-turn capability up to 4096 revolutions and a holding brake. The motor uses a self-cooling principle with a mounting flange and has a smooth shaft end, supporting a rated speed of 6000 rpm.
Internal Product Review
The 8LSA34.DB060S200-3 is a three-phase synchronous motor from B & R Automation that presents as a well-engineered choice for precise motion control. An inductive EnDat 2.2 encoder and a single-cable hybrid connection support accurate feedback and clean machine integration. A standard holding brake complements the design, and the 6000 rpm rated speed stands out for dynamic servo applications.

Product Description:
B & R Automation manufactures the 8LSA34.DB060S200-3, a member of the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. This three-phase synchronous motor drives packaging lines, handling robots, and other motion axes by providing high power density in a compact frame. It follows the 8LSA configuration and is intended for standard duty cycles without reinforced bearings. Its electronic feedback supports precise closed-loop positioning and speed regulation in industrial automation systems. The permanent-magnet design also provides responsive torque delivery during repeated acceleration and deceleration cycles.
The motor operates at a rated speed of 6000 rpm, enabling fast cycle times when paired with a compatible high-frequency inverter. Heat is removed through self-cooling with free air circulation, so no external blower or liquid-cooling jacket is required. Position data are supplied by an inductive EnDat sensor that communicates through the EnDat 2.2 protocol. The encoder provides 19-bit single-turn and 12-bit multi-turn resolution, allowing precise interpolation throughout the motor’s rotation range. Its gearless counter supports a multi-turn range of 4,096 revolutions without requiring battery backup. The motor uses length code 4 and product revision 3. Its standard bearing arrangement keeps rotor inertia low, supporting rapid changes in speed while avoiding the added mass associated with reinforced bearings.
For installation, the motor is equipped with a standard holding brake that clamps the rotor when power is removed. This brake helps prevent unintended movement when the motor drives a vertical or gravity-loaded axis. Power, feedback, and brake conductors share a single-cable connection that exits through a dedicated hybrid connector, reducing the number of separate cable runs. The front face has a 91.3 mm flange dimension and uses a mounting flange for secure attachment to the machine. A smooth shaft transfers torque through a clamping coupling without relying on a keyway. Because the shaft does not include an oil seal, the motor should be installed in a dry area or paired with an external sealing arrangement when oil, coolant, or other contaminants may reach the shaft opening.
