Product Description:
The 8I64S200220.000-1 inverter is built by B & R Automation for the 8I6 ACOPOS Inverters series. In a production cell or packaging line, it acts as the intermediary between a PLC and an AC motor. It translates control commands into variable voltage and frequency so that conveyor belts, pumps, or positioners run at the commanded speed and torque.
This model supplies a nominal output of 2.2 kW, matching small-to-midrange motion axes that need moderate continuous power. It accepts a single-phase mains feed, simplifying installation where only single-phase utility power is available. Pulse-width modulation is refreshed at up to 100 Hz, so the inverter can follow rapidly changing speed references. Digital control lines have an input impedance of 12.1 kΩ, reducing current draw from sensor blocks, and each input is scanned every 4 ms to capture state changes initiated by limit switches or light curtains. The internal X2x bus section draws 1.6 W from the 24 V backplane to maintain deterministic communication with higher-level controllers while separating the logic and motor power domains. During fault events, the output stage limits the peak short-circuit current to less than 35 A, protecting downstream wiring.
The housing has a depth of 158 mm, allowing the inverter to be mounted in shallow machine enclosures, and its mass of 1.6 kg keeps panel loading low. Each transistorized output channel has a leakage current of only 3 µA when it is off, minimizing inadvertent actuation of external relays, and the residual voltage across a de-energized output remains below 0.3 V. The housing is 105 mm wide and 142 mm high. An optional shield plate extends the overall height to 188 mm for installations that require reinforced electromagnetic compatibility partitioning.
