Product Description:
The 8EI8X8MWS10.0600-1 is a servo drive produced by B & R Automation for the 8EI Servo Drives series. As a member of the ACOPOS platform, it regulates current and velocity on one motor axis and interfaces directly with controllers used in packaging, material-handling, and machining lines. By regulating motor torque in real time, the unit maintains positional accuracy and supports short cycle times in industrial automation cells.
This drive supplies a continuous output of 8.8 Aeff, indicating the RMS phase current available for steady-state motion. The power stage accepts either 3× 200–230 VAC three-phase mains power or a single-phase feed of 1× 110–230 VAC. This input flexibility supports installation in European and North American cabinets without requiring step-down transformers. The enclosure supports wall mounting, and rigid attachment to a backplate promotes convection cooling while keeping the power and control wiring organized. Functional safety is provided by hardwired STO with encoder monitoring, allowing dedicated safety circuits to remove motor torque rapidly without relying on software commands. This arrangement supports controlled machine shutdowns while preserving direct monitoring of the connected motor feedback system.
The module belongs to the ACOPOS P3 8EI family and uses a compact enclosure suited to space-limited control cabinets. Its I/O terminations are grouped in a single-row Connector Set 1, which keeps field wiring concentrated in an accessible area and reduces the space required for terminal connections. A hinged front cover shields the high-voltage terminals while allowing access for inspection and connection work. The built-in internal braking resistor dissipates regenerated energy during motor deceleration, eliminating the need for an external dump unit and reducing the number of separate cabinet components. Heat produced during braking remains inside the drive assembly, so the surrounding cabinet layout must provide sufficient airflow for normal thermal dissipation.
